Oslo Blue GT2

This 2001 Porsche 996 GT2 has been reborn once again, after living through a very colourful history that has brought it to the condition you see before you today.

Matt Collins, the current owner, became so by the way of a casual conversation at a local Porsche club meeting which lead him to the previous custodian of this rather special car.

Matt did not realise at the time, but this particular GT2 had many fantastical tales to tell – including spending some time as an international Gumball 3000 participant!

Although this car was part of a collectors haul, it had ceased to be his focus and like everything needed money spent on it to bring it back to its once loved condition.

Matt’s fun with the car with stock silver bodywork was instant, but the engine required a full reconditioning to allow him to use it to its full potential, during this reconditioning it would’ve been rude not to upgrade and improve parts as it went along so the once standard 460bhp 3.6 engine is now running 660bhp! Although Matt is no stranger to track driving all-sorts of cars, this infamous ‘widowmaker’ certainly keeps him alert on any journeys this car takes him on.

There’s no mistaking the 2001 styling of this Porsche and it’s iconic curves that any car lover would appreciate, but Matt hankered after putting his own personal stamp on the car to truly make it his own. That’s when Ecosse Automotive had a hand in assisting Matt to achieve this transformation.

This 996 has now been lavished with a whole host of loving details which include a full interior retrim that brings the car freshly into modern times with a nod to the Porsche past with houndstooth Papita Blue seat centres. Not only do the handbrake cover, door cards, re-leathered steering wheel with blue stitching, colour coded seat backs & seatbelts scream an obsessive enthusiast, it’s Ecosse’s hallmark of project car perfection that truly makes something extraordinary.

This one-off Porsche GT2 in Oslo Blue is Matt’s dream car and as Ferdinand Porsche once said ‘I couldn’t find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself’

Turns out we managed to take some great advice and custom made his dream GT2 on site in Bo’ness.

We’ve included old & new pictures and videos of this GT2 in the gallery below so you can see just how much this car has changed – we’ve even included some pictures we’ve found of its time during the Gumball 3000

Please feel free to contact us regarding your dream build.
